NWO organises regular events of several types including " Come and Try it" especially for beginners, District and Regional Events. There is a variety of formats including cross-country, score and night events. All of these are suitable for beginners who want to try orienteering. (See the bottom of this page for an explanation of the different types).
There are many events organised by other clubs that are within reach of North Wiltshire. See the British Orienteering website which provides a national list of fixtures. More fixtures can be found on the websites of local clubs listed ot the British Orienteering website.
For more information about NWO events contact the organiser, if named, or the NWO Fixtures Secretary.

Night Event These are held just after nightfall and you will need a torch (preferably a head-torch). They are gs. You have an hour to find as many controls as possible. Each control earns you a number of points. There are a number of easy controls for beginners. If you are new to orienteering you may wish to try out some day events first.
District Event. All colour-coded courses (white, yellow, orange, light green, green, blue and brown) are offered unless otherwise specified. There may be additional courses eg. red and there is usually a String Course for young children. The easier courses are suitable for beginners.
Local Event NWO plan to offer a series of informal local events suitable for experienced orienteers and beginners. More details will follow soon.
Summer Relay The relay is one of a series of team relay events run in the South West. A limited number of different colour-coded courses will be available for beginners and orienteers not in a team.
