Planners Comments
Thank you all for coming. I saw several tired but happy faces at the finish and all courses were well used. Special thanks to the planner’s assistant, Andrew and to Malcolm for his helpful suggestions and fine adjustments. The White to Orange courses stayed on the fairly flat area north of the start and had fast winning times. Light Green tackled part of the slope. Some of you on the Orange course did not go to the pit at Control 5 but punched the control at the nearby path-junction instead. Green to Brown had the ups and downs and I kept the length relatively short to compensate. You all had the same common control (No. 164) since the recent advance of the felling in the southeast wiped out planned alternatives.

Controller’s Comments
It was a pleasure to work with such a good area as Sallowvallets and Ken’s courses required very little amendment in order to provide the competitors with a demanding but fair challenge. The continued felling until the week before the event meant we could not finalise the courses until quite late however it all worked out fine. Electronic punching is great for the competitors and saves considerable manpower at the start and finish however we have yet to fine tune the registration process for ‘enter on the day’ events to avoid queuing. The ultimate test of a good event is the number of grumbles received at the finish - we had many compliments and no complaints. Well done SLOG.

Organisers’ Comments
We hope everyone enjoyed the day, all feedback was positive.
Orienteering is an amateur sport which is dependent upon the voluntary effort of club members. This event would not have been possible without the support of not only SLOG members but a number of NGOC and BOK as well. Thanks to you all. Special thanks go to Andrew Pentelow and Ashley Cooper for the running of the electronic punching. Also to Pat Macleod and Carole Stewart of NGOC. Ken Stimson’s planning not only made the event possible in the first place but also provided those who ran with some great orienteering.
If you are a member of a club and have not helped before, please make it a New Year’s resolution
